Dave
was raised in Powell River, began clarinet in the Brooks School band in 1954,
and has played clarinet and saxes in school, community and jazz bands for fifty
years.

During
his 32 years as a communications-electronics officer in the air force, he spent
six years in the training system, and enjoyed pipe bands and military brass-reed
bands on the frequent ceremonial occasions.

On his retirement back to Powell River in 1993, Dave joined
other musicians playing jazz and dance music locally. You could check out the
Our Kind of
Music Website here.
An
interest in pipes emerged in 2004 during a month in Scotland tracing roots of
his four Scottish grandparents. Photos and comments of his trip are located
here
After
a year of lessons with George Thomson, Dave
joined the band in May 2006.
He served as President of the Clansman Pipe Band Society from September 2006 for
two years, and now serves as assistant treasurer and webmaster.
