Bruce Lyster

Bruce reports: " I was born in 1946  St.Neots, U.K. Of a Scottish Mother and a Canadian Father of Irish descent. I always liked the sound and the look of pipe bands. When I was younger, I thought that I would like to learn how to play the instrument some day. At the age of 45 I noticed a add in the news paper that the Clansman Pipe band was looking for learner Drummers. I answered the add and started to play the tenor drum. While watching the Pipers play while in the circle, I thought "you know that thing only has nine notes, and how hard can that be to play". Little did I know. With the help of Bob Hutton,(who by the way has never recovered fully from the ordeal of teaching me) I started to learn just how hard it was to play. And have been driving Pipe Majors crazy ever since. But I have enjoyed, playing and being part of the band for the last 17 years."
